A Spiritual Astrology of the Soul:
An Alchemical Odyssey

  In search of an Astrology of the Soul, I have spent 20 years of study. Through this journey, I have created my own absolutely Unique approach.  One of the pioneers of this new Astrology, Michael Erlewine, has stated in public that I am the only Astrologer he has ever met who really “gets it” –who has gone through the full initiation into this new Paradigm. This represents a rare opportunity to go beyond the limiting structures of Form you have been dwelling within –to converse with the Essence of your Spiritual Being -and attune your conscious Will with that Essence!

Simply put, most astrologers use a chart which represents only the Form of the individual –the Karmic vessel into which the Spiritual impulse is born. This Spiritual impulse –the Individual’s Essence –is represented by another chart. In his book Astrology of the Heart, Michael Erlewine shows this Essence has two basic vibrations –that of the square or Cross –and that of the triangle or Pyramid.  The Cross is Yang –a transmitter of seed material. The grand trine or Pyramid is hollow -Yin –the receiver –the vessel and shaper of this seed material.

As you can see below, my chart contains signatures of both the trine and square type -but the overarching signature is that of the Grand Cross -the transmitter of Seed material. Erlewine says of this StarType: "a wellspring, from which new ideas and information flows, information of use to whomever comes in contact with it. It is hard to put a finger on this talent, and even harder to put a price on it."

 


   Within the Chart above you can see one of the oldest symbols known to Humans -The Solar Cross. The circular shape emphasises the ever recurring cyclical nature of the seasons. This Neolithic symbol combines a cross within a circle and is the simplest conceivable representation of the union of opposed polarities. Probably the oldest symbol in the World, it appeared in Asian, American, European, and Indian art -from the Dawn of History.

Heliocentric Astrology: A New Spiritual Paradigm

If we assume the Gaia hypothesis to be true, that the Earth is a living, breathing being in its own right -then what does this make the Sun? It is in fact the engine that drives Creation –all of the heavier elements, including carbon, come from the chain reactions at a Star’s supernova –where the seed of Life is spewed across the Universe!

 When I look out and see the Earth green with her in-breath, hold her fullness of Summer and then watch Autumn’s exhalation, I have no problem understanding the Earth is Alive. The Sun, being Her source of Life simply must then be a source of Spiritual Intelligence! And so, when we look at the chart from POV of The Sun we are looking at a glimpse of Divine intention- a page of your divine master plan –if you will. The geocentric Earth Journey is the Waking Dream, but the Heliocentric view is The Witness -the Lucid Dreamer who can trans-figure the Dream!

Besides the system that Erlewine and myself have been using for some time, another Astrology system I know of which seeks to explore the Spiritual Essence of the individual -rather than merely the Form -is the Indian or Vedic system. Vedic astrologers look at a chart they call the Navamsa -what modern Astrologers call the 9th Harmonic. This chart is thought to represent the "Fruit" while the chart that most modern Astrologers look at represents the "Tree." Once again, even in this ancient system, the overall pattern of my chart reflects the Solar Cross -the Union of polarities. The "Fruit" of my Tree again contains the same signature as the "Seed" of the heliocentric chart -the original Spiritual impulse.
